Do you have the depth of expertise and clout in AI to be comfortable speaking and writing on AI and supply chains? If so, here's a link to job posting: If you are one of those Canadian AI experts, I'm seeking an AI Thought Leader to be based in Canada to join my team at Kinaxis, where we are leading the pack in #supplychain solutions. So if you're on the hunt for AI talent, there's plenty to be found in Canada. One of those grad students, Ilya Sutskever, wasn't a household name until recently, when he was in the news for his role as Chief Scientist at OpenAI. In fact, the current AI buzz arguably dates back to 2012, when two of Hinton's grad students won the ImageNet competition. The AI revolution we are seeing today is based on deep learning advances, which are based on neural network advances pioneered by University of Toronto professor Geoff Hinton decades ago. This history goes way back, since Canada has a history of funding innovation that has drawn talent from many other lands. They did this analysis based on papers submitted to the 2019 NeurIPS conference, one of the top AI conferences. MacroPolo's Global AI Talent Tracker shows that the US has 4x as much AI talent as Canada but 8x the population. Do you have the depth of expertise and clout in AI to speak and write on it for a living? If so, here's a link to job posting: ĭid you know that Canada punches way above its weight in #artificialintelligence? The stats below are about #generativeai, but the same holds true across AI. If you also like to think, speak, and write about AI and supply chain, I'm seeking an AI Thought Leader to be based in Canada to join my team at Kinaxis, where we are leading the pack in #supplychain solutions. I shared more of my thoughts on this topic in this Logistics Viewpoints commentary. A highly efficient silo is still a silo.Īnd third, lead the change needed, which in most cases is for your team to use technology more effectively, not build it themselves. Even a nearly perfect demand forecast can be AI in isolation, if it is only in one functional node of your supply chain. Second, avoid islands of isolation and limited impact by integrating AI into your supply chain so the results are aligned end to end. I love to quote my colleague Chantal Bisson-Krol, who says that the three pillars of AI and ML are: 1) data 2) data and 3).data! What data do you have already, but also think outside-in - what external data might shed more light on your demand? Instead start with the foundation of your AI strategy, which should be an understanding of your company’s supply chain and your data. Nor would I recommend a crash couse in #generativeai, by far the hottest topic of the day. The rush to adoption is off the charts, so how should you get started with #artificialintelligence in #supplychain? I don't recommend signing up to learn more about #machinelearning by Andrew Ng on Coursera, although he has some of the best known content out there. Kinaxis' Polly Mitchell-Guthrie Talks About 5 Principles For Navigating the Digital Fog Around AI in Supply Chain It took intense concentration and a white-knuckle grip on the wheel to emerge safely.ĬSCOs face these same impulses, so these fog lights offer guidance for how to stay on the road and drive at the right speed for your business. I was torn between twin impulses – speeding up so we could descend out of the fog and slowing down to keep from careening off the mountain to the left or into a ditch on the right. My scary drive began as we were returning from a longer-than-expected hike along the Blue Ridge Parkway, usually a magical drive in the clouds but frightening in the fog as visibility was reduced to 10 feet. However, beneath the fog there are tremendous opportunities, so I'm sharing 5 principles for navigating this fog. I hear from many leaders who feel overwhelmed and downright upset trying to guide their organizations through this pea soup. Navigating through the digital fog surrounding #ai in #supplychain can be scary, too, as the fog thickens. The scariest drive of my life took place on a summer’s night in the North Carolina mountains as dusk and fog descended.
